If you want a recap on how to stem stitch, jump over to a step-by-step tutorial I have previously posted.

Before you come to the end of your circle, check your stitch length. You want your last stitch to be the same length as your other stitches. I usually check 3-4 stitches before I come to the end and adjust the stitch length if need be.
Start your second to last stitch by coming up next to your previous stitch. The same as you have previously done.

Then bring your needle down just next to your very first stitch, closing the circle.

Then bring your needle up next to your last stitch.

For your final stitch bring your needle over your very first stitch and bring the needle down in the middle of and underneath your very first stitch.
Angle your needle slightly to ensure your stitch is completely covered by the first stitch.
You can now go on to stitch your next design element or secure your thread.
I hope you found these steps helpful.
